"Ocean Waves or Roller Coasters?"
A poem written by yours truly.
Throughout my life,
I have gone through many experiences and emotions.
From witnessing failure,
And feeling huge waves of anger;
To witnessing success,
And feeling huge waves of ecstasy.
-
To me,
My life is like the ocean and its waves.
One moment, I'm angry;
And the next, I'm not.
One moment, I'm nervous,
And the next, I'm fearless.
-
My life is always like this.
It gets tiring after a while.
But hey, I'm not the only one who has to deal with this.
My friends, family, teachers, acquaintances;
I feel sorry for you,
Because you have to deal with a girl who always changes her mind about things.
That person, being me.
-
People ask me why I swim;
Why I put myself though hours of intense training,
Just to compete for less than two minutes.
I tell them that it's exhilarating, and that I enjoy staring at a black line for hours at a time.
To my closest friends,
They think, "That's a normal Symi response, 'cause she's already weird."
But really, it's the only thing that sets me free from myself.
I can take all of those things people call "feelings",
And put it toward a great practice,
Because it only makes me become better at what I love to do.
-
To those who know me,
I am not a very emotional.
I don't cry at funerals anymore,
Because I've been to too many.
And I've learned that death is always the end of the roller coaster they call life.
So sorry, if you were expecting some deep, mushy poem (*cough, cough, Miss Koval*),
Because you're not going to get one from me.
