This journal will focus on aspects of suspense in chapter 12 of An Abundance of Katherines.
During chapter 12, Lindsey and Colin drove to a retirement home to interview more people for their job. Before they went inside, Lindsey and Colin worked on Colin's Dumper/Dumpee Theorem. This left us in suspense because we were anxious to see if they would actually come up with a solution that worked. When they entered the home, Lindsey and Colin interviewed all of Lindsey's elderly friends that lived there. Many of Lindsey's friends thought that Colin was her boyfriend and that he was very "good-looking." The end of the chapter leaves us in suspense because Colin and Lindsey were discussing the "they-thought-we-were-dating" thing and Colin thought it was funny. Lindsey asked how he thought it was funny, but just before Colin was about to answer, the chapter ended.
